FAQs About Defensive Driving Courses
What is the cost of the driving safety course?
Our online Texas Driving Safety Course is priced at $25.00, the minimum cost permitted by law. We accept major credit and debit cards. This includes Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. This fee covers the following:
- Seven concise chapters featuring interactive videos, informative text with visuals, and open-book multiple-choice quizzes. You'll also receive a completion certificate.
- Round-the-clock access to the course and customer support.
- No need for a final exam. Your grade is determined by the questions asked throughout the course.
How do I sign up for the course?
Enrolling in our course is simple. Simply click the "Register" button at the top of the page to get started. You can begin the course instantly after registering.
Can I take the course on my phone or tablet?
Absolutely! The course is designed to work seamlessly on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones with internet access.
Is this course officially approved?
Yes, this course is authorized by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). Our license number is CP106, and the course number is C3124.
Some courts may refer to a Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved course. However, as of September 1, 2015, the TEA no longer oversees these courses. This responsibility has been transferred to the TDLR. Any mention of TEA approval is outdated. For verification, visit the TDLR website.
How long does the driving safety course take to complete?
The course takes six hours to finish, as required by Texas. Since it's self-paced, you can log in and out as needed to fit your schedule. Whether you complete the course in one sitting or over several days is entirely up to you.
What if I need to stop before finishing the course?
No problem. Our course allows you to pause and resume at your convenience. Use your driver's license number and password to log back in and pick up where you left off.
Can I switch devices during the course?
Yes, you can. Whether starting on one computer and finishing on another or switching to a mobile device, all you need is internet access and a web browser.
How much time do I have to finish the course?
Typically, you're given 90 days from the date permission was granted to complete the course. If you're not sure about your deadline, check with the court handling your citation. We recommend finishing the course with enough time to receive your certificate before the due date—ideally, at least a week in advance. We also offer expedited services for those needing last-minute processing.
How soon will I receive my completion certificate?
State regulations require us to deliver your certificate via mail or electronically. Every certificate includes a unique number. You must submit your certificate to the court that issued your citation. Standard delivery takes about 7 days. For faster service, you can choose to download your certificate instantly upon completion. Choose your preferred option during registration or upgrade later.
Can I receive my certificate electronically?
Yes, we offer a downloadable PDF certificate option. You can print your certificate almost immediately after completing the course. Since November 1, 2018, all Texas courts have accepted self-printed PDF certificates.
What if I lose my certificate?
If your certificate is misplaced, contact us anytime for a replacement. A small fee may apply based on your circumstances.
How can I get a copy of my Texas Driver Record?
You can order your Texas Driver Record through us. We'll send it along with your completion certificate or via email. Many courts require this record to be submitted with your certificate, so check with your court to confirm. You can request your Driver Record during registration.
What if my course deadline has passed?
If you missed your deadline, contact the court immediately to ask for an extension. Completing the course and providing the certificate is better than allowing the deadline to pass without trying.
What happens if I don't pass the final exam?
There is no final exam in this course! Additionally, you get unlimited attempts to pass the quizzes in each section.
For a ticket dismissal, can I select any court?
No, you must choose the specific court associated with your citation. Submitting your certificate to the correct court is crucial. If you accidentally select the wrong court, state law requires that you return the original certificate to us before we issue a replacement.
